IT Project Manager

The IT Project Manager is responsible for overseeing multiple software development projects throughout the entire lifecycle, from initial request through post implementation follow-up. An ideal candidate will be highly organized, able to multi-task and prioritize demands in a sometimes high-pressure environment. They will have a firm grasp of details with an ability to relate details to a big picture view. They will possess the skills and personality to drive a team to meet deadlines. They will be innovative in seeking out opportunities for creating and improving on efficiencies. They will be able to manage and challenge upwards when needed and make decisions, and be an effective and clear communicator.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide overall project coordination for multiple simultaneous small to medium software development projects for custom designed business applications.
  • Track progress and report status on multiple simultaneous small to medium software development projects for custom designed business applications.
  • Plan and monitor activities for implementation of third party software, CRM and Accounting Suites.
  • Manage change requests as submitted by internal business customers.
  • Interface with internal business customers to establish true benefit and business value of project requests.
  • Work with application development team to establish levels of effort for each project request.
  • Assist with portfolio management and tracking pipeline initiatives through reports and dashboards.
  • Proactively identify potential bottlenecks in multiple ongoing projects and larger key initiatives to keep them on schedule.
  • Ensure a steady flow of projects is available for business analysts and application developers to maintain an efficient pipeline.
  • Identify project milestones, phases, and elements, and establish project priorities and schedule.
  • Establish project timelines based on resource availability and project dependencies.
  • Monitor project progress by tracking activity, mitigating problems, publishing progress reports, and recommending actions.
  • Drive team to meet established deadlines and milestones, and hold them accountable for on time delivery of all project deliverables.
  • Communicate in a timely manner with business stakeholders regarding project statuses and escalate issues proactively.
  • Compare, analyze, and report on differences between original estimates and project actuals.
  • Maintain project relevant documents and artifacts including project charter, scope document, project plan, risks and assumptions, stakeholder approvals, status reports, and pipeline reports.
  • Perform post implementation evaluation of effectiveness of project compared to initial business benefit statement for key initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of experience as a Project Manager on IT Applications Development projects.
  • BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills effectively translating systems concepts to a business audience and business concepts to a technical audience.
  • Exceptionally strong organizational skills.
  • Strong time management and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles and best practices and the SDLC.
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Suite office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project).
  • Some Business Analysis and/or Requirements Gathering experience.
  • Experience working in projects based on Agile and/or Iterative Software Development Methodologies.
  • Experience in a .Net Applications Development environment is a plus.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) is a plus.
  • Experience managing 3rd party implementations of CRM and/or Accounting Software is a plus.
